Gains several safety equipments.

The updated Australia-spec Tata Xenon now offers ESC as a standard feature.

The previous version of the pickup had a dismal 2-star ANCAP rating. The enhanced safety is courtesy of new standard features such as the Electronic Stability Control, EBD, hydraulic brake assist, traction control, hill hold control and drag torque control. The ute already had standard dual front airbags and ABS.

The variant tested was the Xenon double cab 4×2 which managed to achieve an overall score of 27.27 out of 37. While the pickup scored all of 16 points in the side impact test, it swept 11.27 points out of 16 in the frontal offset collision test.

The 4-star rating puts it on par with its intended rivals on the safety front.

Launched in late 2013, the Tata Xenon is pitted against formidable opponents like the Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux. The vehicle is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which generates 110 KW (147.5 bhp) and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The top-end variants come with a 4×4 system.
