IAB Report - Mercedes GLA launches today in India

Smallest member of the Mercedes SUV family has a big heart.

Mercedes-Benz India will launch its entry-level crossover, the Mercedes GLA Class, today afternoon. Based on the A-Class' MFA Platform, the GLA fills the large void under the ML Class in Mercedes India's lineup, and competes with the Audi Q3 and the Volvo V40 Cross Country.

The car will come in two variants, with the GLA petrol getting the 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 181 PS and 300 Nm of torque, and the GLA diesel variant harnessing a 2.2-liter engine to produce 135 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Both variants are driven via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission spinning the front wheels.

Standard features on the GLA are panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio system, tyre pressure monitoring, seven airbags, Anti-Skid Regulation (ASR), ABS and Brake Assist System (BAS).

The dashboard and features are also shared with the A Class.

The GLA measures 4.4 m long, 1.8 m wide, 1.49 m tall, and sports a wheelbase of 2.69 m. The ground clearance of the GLA is 183 mm, while the boot volume stands at 421 liters (1,235 liters with the seats folded).
