Launches late next year.

The next gen Skoda Superb has been rendered by Mr. Carsten Glass of AutoForum.cz.

Based on the VW Group MQB Platform, the new Superb is expected to have even more rear legroom than the current model, the unbeatable USP of the Superb (along with the rare diesel engine option) that made it a segment leader in India.

Mechanically, the next gen Superb would be heavily based on the new VW Passat and could come with a plug-in hybrid option.

The car will also be wider than the current model but due to cost targets, miss out on the twin-door feature where the boot can be opened as a tailgate when loading bigger articles. Most likely the V6 engine option could also be axed and the most power would come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

The new Superb will borrow design cues from the VisionC Concept as illustrated in this drawing with sharply cut headlamps and a coupe style roofline. Skoda's chief designer Jozef Kaban had said that future Skodas would have hidden tailpipes and Skoda's Chairman Dr. Winfried Vahland had said that the design and execution of the car would be a revelation.

The new Superb will miss out on the unique twin-door boot.

Expect the new Superb to be revealed around the same time next year and go on sale in Europe by the end of next year. Currently the Superb is a CKD product for Skoda India and this method of manufacturing should remain unchanged.
