The project reportedly cost RM 300 million

The Proton P2-30A global small car, the Malaysian automaker's most ambitious attempt by far, has been spied without disguise once again, this time by Funtasticko.

The Proton P2-30A will launch sometime soon.

Proton had earlier teased the headlamp of the car signaling an imminent launch. The recent spyshot further confirms that the hatchback is just weeks away from reaching the showrooms.

The 'Proton Compact Car' (PCC) features peeled back headlamps and a short nose, having a slight resemblance to the Chevrolet Beat (Spark) which is also one of its competitors. The bonnet has a subtle power bulge in the middle and the bumper plays home to a hexagonal airdam, chin air splitter and LED daytime running lights enclosed in quadrilateral housings.

Earlier reports say that the car could be called as the Proton Iriz. The VW Up! rival would come with safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS, TCS, ESC, BA and HHC (Hill Hold Assist) and a strong monocoque to pass the Euro-NCAP crash tests.

The engine details are still kept under wraps but the leaked features list reveals that the motor will be equipped with variable valve timing. The engine displacement is expected to be range between 1.0- and 1.6-litres.
