Company wants to triple sales.

In a recent shareholder's meet, Maruti Suzuki's Chairman, R C Bhargava, said that the company intends on tripling its sales to 3 million cars per annum, though a timeframe for this sales target was not specified by him. In 2013-14, the company sold 1.15 million cars and it intends to sell 2 million a year within five years.

New products and refreshes to correspondingly increase.

Maruti will be taking a few steps to increase its sales, reports Economic Times. The first step would be to enhance its research and development capability to increase fuel efficiency across all models, and to develop more (engine) options of petrol, diesel, CNG and LPG in existing models. The company is also working on developing its own diesel engine family starting with a new 800 cc diesel motor which will find application in the Y9T LCV and the Celerio.

Next up, Maruti will increase its product portfolio as Mr. Bhargava says the number of products has to "correspondingly go up". He also says that these products will be "refreshed periodically".

Within six-eight months, Maruti could have up to six launches (refreshes and all-new models). The Swift facelift, Dzire facelift, Ciaz sedan, SX4 S-Cross, Alto 800 facelift and diesel Celerio are the anticipated new cars in this period.
