Not technically a selfie but the 20 millionth bike comes after 38 years of production.
Honda of Brazil has surpassed a significant production milestone of 20 million two wheelers at its Manaus plant this month which is claimed to be the manufacturer's largest two wheeler production facility in the world.
The milestone vehicle was a 2015 Honda CG 150 Titan (comparable to the Honda Unicorn) in its new color theme.
Established in 1976, the Manaus plant is a fully integrated manufacturing facility which is capable of producing components such as engine, wheels, handlebars, silencer and chassis, in addition to assembling motorcycles.
Currently Honda produces 26 two wheeler models at the Manaus plant with engine displacements ranging from 100 to 1,000 cc. In addition, the plant also manufactures quads and engines for stationary applications.
Honda has a staggering market share of around 80% in Brazil and the nearly four-decade old factory played a vital role in the penetration.
In 2009, the factory started production of the first flex-fuel motorcycle in the world (runs on ethanol and petrol) and now, the 6 flex-fuel models that are being made here contribute to 60% of the brand's sales in the South American nation.
Honda invested 40 million reals (nearly INR 110 crores) in a Technology Development Centre (TDC) at the Manaus facility last year.
