IAB Report - Honda Amaze crosses 1 lakh sales milestone in 16 months

Fastest for any Honda car in India.

Since its launch in April 2013, 16 months ago, Honda Cars India has sold more than 100,000 units of the Amaze compact sedan, the company said in a statement today. Indian Autos Blog was told about the upcoming milestone during the launch of the Mobilio last month.

The Amaze also debuted the company's diesel engine in India.

The milestone is the fastest for any product in the company's history since its inception in the Indian market. Doing the math, Honda have sold an average of 6,250 Amazes each month.

Apart from seeing Honda enter the highly lucrative compact sedan segment, the Amaze also debuted the company's diesel engine by way of the 1.5-liter i-DTEC. This engine is now used in the Amaze, City the recently launched Mobilio, and going forth, in the Jazz hatchback. It produces 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, returns class-leading mileage, and is paired either to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed manual in case of the City.

Honda produces the Amaze in India at its Greater Noida plant and at its Rajasthan plant in Tapukara. Apart from catering to domestic demand, the company also exports the car to markets such as South Africa, Brunei and Nepal.
