Spied – New details emerge on the 2015 Hyundai Elite i20

Posted on: Aug 5, 2014 - 11:03am IST

Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Siddharth Chauhan, spotted the 2015 Hyundai Elite i20 at a dealership in North India recently. Mr. Chauhan, who himself owns the outgoing i20, reported a few details of the car which are given below.

2015 Hyundai Elite i20 spotted headlight
The new i20 does without LED daytime running lights.

The i20 in these images is the top-end Asta trim powered by a petrol engine (it could be the 1.2- or 1.4-liter motor). On the outside, the top-end trim will get 195/55 R16 alloy wheels with a diamond finish as seen in these images. However, LED daytime running lights are not seen in the new generation model.

Inside, the instrument cluster gets a new multi-information display which also doubles up as an interface for the driver to adjust vehicle settings such as auto door lock.

2015 Hyundai Elite i20 spotted rear AC
The top-end variants will get a rear AC vent.

Sitting in between the front seats is a center armrest, underneath which space is available for storage of small items. One of the images also confirms the presence of a rear AC vent, and this will be a proper AC vent, and not merely a blower, our reader reports.

The new i20 is expected to sport a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model, and Mr. Chauhan says that the rear legroom seemed better by a few inches in comparison to the current model. Other notes made by him are the shorter gear throws, better quality leather for the steering wheel and overall improvement in build quality and finish.

Hyundai India will launch the new i20 on August 11.

Competitors: Maruti Suzuki Swift, VW Polo, Honda Jazz, Fiat Punto Evo, Tata Bolt

Expected price: INR 5 – 7.5 lakhs ex-showroom

Launching on: August 11, 2014

One more thing I would like to add is that the center armrest does not slide forward for better reach. The right side switches on the steering control the center MID.
