The new Endeavour features a "three-hole" grille design.

The next gen Ford Endeavour (Everest in some markets) which was previewed by a near production concept last year has managed to break a convention as far as the brand's SUV design language is concerned.

The new Endeavour features a two-slat, three-hole grille design.

While Ford's US wing strictly adheres to the traditional front grille with three horizontal chrome slats, Ford's Asia Pacific Design Centre in Australia which is responsible for the Endeavour is inclined towards a slightly different design philosophy especially when it comes to passenger vehicles.

For example, the 2011 Ford Territory SUV which was designed and developed by Ford Australia features a sleek grille with two thin horizontal slats. The upcoming next gen Ford Endeavour will also avoid the traditional three-slat grille design. Mr. David Dewitt, SUV exterior design manager, Ford Australia says, "We wanted a design that communicated off-road capability, but at the same time moved beyond traditional design cues."

The 2015 Endeavour will premiere next year.

The new SUV's hexagonal chrome grille features two horizontal slats unlike the current gen model's triple stats. It is to be noted that Ford's North American division also gradually started loosing interest on the three-slat grille, as evident from the 2015 Ford Edge.

The Endeavour which is undergoing tests will be ready next year. Ford has revealed that it has built 200 prototypes which have clocked a cumulative distance of over 1 million km. Just like the current model, Ford India's Chennai plant will assemble the SUV from Thai-sourced CKD kits.
