Renault India’s managing director, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, confirmed that the company will launch the Duster 4×4 by the end of this year. A tweet from Rohin Nagrani, Senior Editor of Motoring World, says that the launch is most likely to happen in September.
The Duster 4×4 will be the most expensive variant of the crossover in India. Renault will mostly offer the 4×4 system only with the top-end Duster 110 PS diesel variant, which costs INR 11.9 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The 4WD system is likely to add a further INR 1 lakh to the price of the car.
The Duster 4×4 will be powered by the 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine making 110 PS (108.45 bhp) and 248 Nm of torque, and will come paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. Being the top-end variant, the Duster 4×4 will come with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags.
The Duster 4×4 won’t have direct competitors (same body size) as such since the Ford EcoSport is offered only with 2WD. However, price wise, the Duster 4×4 will compete with the Mahindra Scorpio 4×4 and the Tata Safari Storme 4×4.
Competitors: Mahindra Scorpio 4×4, Tata Safari Storme 4×4
Expected Price: INR 12.9 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi
