Ahead of a launch that is expected in the coming months (festive season), the Maruti Ciaz was caught testing by a reader of Motorbash in New Delhi.
The Ciaz, which was shown in concept form at the Auto Expo this year, is Maruti's replacement for the SX4 which, if reports are to be believed, has already received the axe. A near production version of the Ciaz was shown at the Beijing Motor Show in April this year under the name of 'Alivio'.
Power for the Ciaz will come from petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor is expected to be carried over from the Ertiga which uses a 1.4-liter four-cylinder K-Series engine. The diesel Ciaz could continue using the 1.3-liter Multijet diesel seen on the SX4. The petrol engine would be offered with a manual and a CVT, whereas the diesel will come with a manual only.
Top-end variants of the Ciaz will get projector lights, rear AC vents, climate control, steering mounted controls, engine starter button, keyless entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS, EBD and at least two airbags.
Competitors: Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, Fiat Linea
Expected Price: INR 7.5-10.5 lakhs, ex-Showroom
