According to a new report, Honda will launch the refreshed CR-V in the United States in September this year.

Auto Guide says that the updated SUV will arrive in American dealerships in the second half of September.

The refreshed CR-V will launch in the U.S. come September with new lights and bumpers.

The facelifted CR-V will get redesigned headlights, taillights and bumpers, and that is as far as changes could go on the outside. Inside the car, the AC vents would get metal inserts to appear more upmarket, and apart from this, there weren't any changes noticed on test mules.

Auto Guide says that the automatic transmission of the CR-V (which is sold only with the 2.4-liter engine) will be updated from the current 5-speed auto box to a CVT unit.

The 5AT gearbox could be replaced by a CVT unit in the refreshed model.

The new generation CR-V was launched in India in February 2013. The SUV is sold with two engine options: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC producing 156 PS (153.8 bhp) and 190 Nm of torque, and a 2.4-liter i-VTEC making 190 PS (187.32 bhp) and 226 Nm of torque. The 2.0L gets a 2WD system and a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, while the 2.4L gets only a 5AT with AWD layout. When the refreshed car is launched in India, they too could benefit from the CVT gearbox.

The CR-V is made in India from CKD kits shipped from Japan, and hence the refreshed CR-V would have to launch in India within months from its international release.

The CR-V has no direct competitors as such in India as other SUVs in this price point are all diesel powered.
