The 2015 Skoda Fabia which is set to make its global premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October has been teased through an official sketch. Here is a rendering of the upcoming global hatchback which accurately picks up the hints that Skoda gave via the sketch.
The evolved front grille is the immediately noticeable element of the new design which has been previewed by the Skoda VisionC concept. The new headlamps have a kink where they meet the grille, resulting in an instantly recognizable yet edgier front fascia. The bumper accommodates a wide air intake and foglights.
In profile, the tightly skinned hatchback's notable features include a strongly accentuated crease along the waist line and an upward sweeping kink on the rear quarter glass panel. A sharply contoured hatch door and angular combination lights sum up the exterior.
The next Skoda Fabia would have a revamped interior which is claimed to offer a wide range of customization options. The car is wider than the outgoing model by 9 cm which would result in better interior space. It is also lower than its predecessor by 3 cm.
Under the skin, the new Fabia continues to sit on a re-engineered version of the existing car's platform. The powertrain options which include petrol and diesel engines ranging from 1.0-litre to 1.6-litre are also expected to be borrowed from the current car, albeit with efficiency enhancing tweaks.
Skoda India currently has its focus on the Rapid and the segments above it, which means, the next gen Fabia would not be India-bound in the immediate future.
