Seen here is the 2014 VW Polo facelift in a left-hand drive configuration caught on test by Overdrive magazine. VW India's Chakan, apart from catering to the domestic demand, also makes cars for 32 global markets.

The spotted vehicle is powered by the 1.6-liter petrol engine, which was initially offered on the Polo in India but later discontinued. The India-made Polo 1.6 is sold in Malaysia however.

The Polo facelift (LHD) was spotted on test recently.

The Polo facelift will have its Indian launch in the middle of next month, as confirmed by sources to Indian Autos Blog. The facelift brings cosmetic and mechanical updates to the hatchback, which of late has seen sales slow down (sales of the Polo dropped from 2,669 units in January this year to 1,590 units last month).

The Polo in India is not available with the 1.6-liter petrol engine.

A revised front bumper with redesigned foglight enclosures, a single-slat chrome grille and new mirror elements for the headlights are the changes seen at the front. A larger registration plate enclosure along with bumper-integrated reflectors complete the rear of the car.

The refreshed Polo will launch in India next month.

Inside, the Polo gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel, new font types for the instrument cluster and a silver insert for the center console.

For the Indian market, VW will continue offering the 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol and the 1.2-liter TSI with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The diesel Polo is expected to be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit capable of producing 80 bhp on the regular TDI and 104 bhp on the GT TDI variants.
