According to an Autocar India report, KTM will offer two engine maps for both existing and upcoming buyers of its 200 Duke and 390 Duke in India.
The engine maps will be set up by the company's service technicians at any of the company's Probiking service outlets in the country. KTM offers two engine maps - a performance map and a map for city usage - and customers can choose between the two.
Engine maps are fed into the bike by running diagnostics on the bike's ECU and tuning it, digitally, to fit a particular mode. This might result in changes in the way the fuel is injected, brake balance, throttle response and idling, to name a few cases.
KTM has also said that changing the engine maps would not affect the bike's existing warranty, until its done at one of its authorised outlets. Customers can switch between either maps at any time, but any switch mandates a trip to the service outlet.
Interestingly, KTM's performance-oriented offerings, the RC200 and RC390 are set to be launched in India towards the middle of this year. KTM had confirmed to IAB that the RC bikes would be launched in the "early half" of the current fiscal year.
