The 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift will most likely launch only with a diesel engine. Given that sales of the Fiesta in general have been far below expectations, Ford India wants to play it safe by only introducing variants it foresees demand for.

The Ford Fiesta facelift had its Indian showcase at the Auto Expo in February this year.

The new diesel Fiesta will continue to be powered by the four-cylinder 1.5-liter engine in the current model. This engine produces 90 PS at 3,750 rpm and 204 Nm of torque between 2,000-2,750 rpm and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The new Fiesta will launch in three trim levels - Ambiente, Trend and Titanium. All variants come standard with ABS, EBD and a driver airbag. The top two variants are extended passenger airbags. Features such as electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, driver seat height adjuster and remote locking will be standard on all variants as well.

Features like engine starter button, alloy wheels, SYNC and AppLink are reserved for the top-end variant.

The Ambiente, being the base variant, loses out on features such as automatic climate control, music system, Ford's SYNC connectivity system, foglights, body-colored wing mirrors and door handles, alloy wheels and cruise control. Ford has reserved features such as automatic headlights and wipers, electrically folding wing mirrors, AppLink with Emergency Assist, alloy wheels, keyless entry with engine starter button and rear parking sensors for the top-end Titanium variant.

The Fiesta facelift is reported to launch in the month of June. This time around, Ford is expected to price the sedan on par with competition.
