The Tata Bolt will rival cars like the Hyundai i20, Maruti Swift and VW Polo.

The Zest and Bolt are highly awaited launches from Tata, as these two cars are expected to contribute significant sales for the brand. Both cars are based on the X1 platform, which is also seen underpinning the Vista and Manza.

Apart from sporting a new design on the outside, these cars feature all-new interiors, unseen to any Tata product till date. The build quality is expected to vastly improve, while the features should be on par with the competition.

Powering the petrol variants of the Bolt and Zest will be the job of Tata's newly-developed 1.2-liter turbocharged Revotron engine which produces 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm. The petrol variants were announced with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel variants source their power from Fiat's 1.3-liter Multijet engine. The Zest diesel was announced with an automated manual transmission (AMT), a first for a car in this segment.
