The last time Porsche sold a four-cylinder engined vehicle was in 1995 on the 968.
After a 19 year pause, Porsche is relisting a four-cylinder model by introducing the Macan 2.0L, the specifications of which are now updated on Porsche UK’s website.
Though Porsche haven’t disclosed when the entry-level variant would be up for grabs, an official announcement must not take very long, and bookings, if not deliveries, could commence this year.
The base Macan is powered by a 1,984 cc four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 237 hp @ 5,000 – 6,000 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,500 – 4,500 rpm, paired to a double clutch 7-speed AT. The compression ratio of this engine is 9.6 : 1, its top speed is 223 kph, and the 0-100 kph acceleration time is 6.9 seconds.
The combined fuel consumption (in the UK driving cycle) is 13.33 kpl, which is considerably lower than the 11.11 kpl managed by the six-cylinder Macan S, the current range beginner. CO2 emission for the four-cylinder engine is 175 g/km, compared to 212 g/km emitted by the six-cylinder variant.
The Macan (six-cylinder variants) launch in India this July.
