Maruti Suzuki will issue a recall for the Maruti Swift Dzire to rectify a fault with the compact sedan's fuel neck filler, Financial Express has reported. The affected vehicles are manufactured in 2013 and 2014, and Maruti will replace the affected part free of charge.

The recall will affect nearly 150,000 units of the Dzire, thereby making it the single largest recall in the country. In the past, General Motors have recalled 114,000 units of the Tavera, while Ford called back 166,000 units of the Figo and Classic combined.

The recall affects 150,000 units of the Maruti Dzire.

The supplier for the Dzire's faulty component, JBM, has started making the replacement parts. Financial Express reports that Maruti itself has a stake of 29.28 percent in JBM. Of the 150,000 units, some vehicles are unsold units, which have not left dealer yards for deliveries, the newspaper says.

Technically, this is the second recall for the Dzire as in November last year, Maruti called back 581 units of the car to replace a faulty steering column. The November recall also affected the A-Star, Ertiga and Swift.

The Dzire is a popular car in India, and for a couple of months in 2013, it was even the best selling car in the country. The Dzire's segment is under threat however with manufacturers like Honda, Hyundai, Tata and Ford having launched or announced their respective competitors.

We should have an official word on the recall shortly.
