The more powerful Eon variant comes with a 1.0L three-cylinder engine that is available to the European i10. It produces 65 bhp and 9.7 kgm of torque and is available on the Magna variant which comes with power windows, air conditioner and power steering. Other features on this variant include engine immobilizer, keyless entry and 13-inch steel wheels.

The variant will not have styling changes. The current Eon is powered by a 814 cc engine that delivers 56 PS and 7.6 kgm. It was launched in October 2011 in six variants. It was developed in four years by 1,000 engineers, in a budget of 900 crore rupees, specifically for India.

The Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre Magna has been priced at Rs 3.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the metallic paint. Its chief rivals are the Datsun Go and the Maruti Wagon R.

3.85L for a car of size similar to Alto 800 ??? Hyundai just dreaming to sell Eon 😀

On a serious note, A Star failed only due to its super compact dimensions in comparison to its higher price, same would be the case for Eon now.

This is the same engine used in 1st generation Santro, before hyundai moved to the 1.1 litre in Santro zip +. The engine is a gem and doesn’t feel like a 3 cylinder engine. It has the right torgue to pull the car and is good on efficiency. Nice move Hyundai. If Hyundai introduce a AMT version, then this could be a direct threat to Celerio, as currently Maruti is not able to meet the demand, and Eon can be the best alternative.

No Sahil. It’s not Santro’s engine but the engine used in this car is leaps ahead & is used in European i10.
