The VW Group have announced that a new Skoda Superb will launch by the end of next year.

The 2016 Skoda Superb will be based on the VW Group's MQB architecture and its reported to share nearly 50 percent of its components with the new VW Passat (which arrives by the end of this year). The move to this platform will ensure better cabin space in the new sedan, reports Auto Motor Und Sport, who have created this rendering.

Clearly, the exteriors of this rendering share much in common with the new Octavia. This is in contrast to what Skoda boss Dr. Vahland said earlier, that the car will be a "revelation" in terms of style. Dr. Vahland confirmed that the new Superb will not get the dual boot release seen on the current model, as it will add to the cost of the car.

In terms of wheelbase, the new Superb would be about 3 inches (75 mm) longer than the current model. Skoda wants to make the new Superb a rival to cars one segment above, an official told a European publication earlier this year.
