IAB Report - Indian dealerships begin showcasing the 2014 Toyota Corolla

Ahead of its market launch announced to take place in May this year, Toyota India dealerships are showcasing the 2014 Toyota Corolla. Bookings for the sedan have commenced pan India and the first customer deliveries will start in May.

The Corolla seen in these images is the top-end VL grade, which is reported to get features such as LED headlights, LED clearance Lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, dual-tone interiors, push start/stop button, smart entry, rain sensing wipers, paddle shifts, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth, navigation and reverse camera.

A leaked document reveals that the Corolla petrol will be available in five trim grades: J, G, G CVT, GL and VL. Power for the petrol Corolla comes from the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine seen in the current model. This engine produces 140 PS of power at 6,400 rpm, and comes with a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox.

The diesel Corolla is powered by the same 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine seen in the current model, outputting an identical 88.4 PS of power at 3,800 rpm. The diesel will be offered only with a 6-speed manual transmission though, in four trim levels: J, J(S), G and GL.
