Geneva Live: Audi S1 Sportback unveiled, launching in Germany in Q2, 2014

Audi today unveiled the S1 sportback at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The car is based on the Audi A1 compact car and will be available in Germany from the second quarter of 2014. Prices for the S1 Sportback start at 30,800 Euros (Rs 26,23,666).

The Audi S1 Sportback gets the same four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged TFSI engine as in the S1 with 231 hp power output and a peak torque of 370 Nm

Apart from the specifications of the S1, the S1 Sportback gets 17-inch wheels (with 18-inch wheels as options) and features a 310 mm disc brake at the front.

Other optional extras include a convenience key, MMI navigation with fold out colour monitor and Bose surround speakers.

Back in February, Audi had announced the S1 hatchback, which will also go on sale during the second half of 2014, priced at 29,950 Euros (Rs 25.5 lakh) in Germany. The car, however, wasn't displayed at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Audi S1 features an all-new turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter TFSI engine that produces 231 hp and produces peak torque of 370 Nm. The S1 and the S1 Sportback feature permanent all-wheel drive Quattro system as standard.

The car has a top speed of 250 kph and can hit 100 kph from standstill in 5.8 seconds. It also has a newly developed electromechanical power steering and Audi says that it has reworked the suspension on both the cars with modified pivot bearings on the front axle and at the rear a four-link suspension replacing the compound link setup on the A1 models.
