Ford revealed the Everest Concept (the next generation Ford Endeavour) in August last year in Australia. The SUV is to have its market launch by August next year, and these are the patent drawings of the concept from China.

The Ford Everest has been patented in China.

We reckon the production version of the Everest would look 90 percent identical to the concept. The SUV was designed by Ford's Australian design team and sports a high ground clearance, a Toyota Fortuner-like stance, a trapezoidal grille and a sculpted bonnet.

The Everest is described by Ford as a seven-seater with a three-row layout, much like the current Endeavour. However, where the Endeavour is underpinned by a dated body-on-frame chassis (borrowed from the previous gen Ranger pickup), the newer model will feature the platform of the new Ranger.

The SUV will sport seats for seven occupants in a three-row configuration.

Competition for the Endeavour in India comes mainly from the Toyota Fortuner, which is also due to receive a full model makeover by 2016. Unlike Ford, Toyota will get rid off the body-on-frame chassis of the current Fortuner replacing it with their TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture).

Before the new Endeavour is launched in India, Ford is likely to roll out a subtle facelift on the current model. The refreshed Endeavour, with Figo-like headlights and grille, should keep the SUV fresh until the newer model arrives next year.
