A fresh set of spyshots showing the next generation Tata Winger undergoing tests is available, courtesy a reader of Motorbash.
The Winger is currently underpinned by the old Renault Trafic’s platform and the test mule in question is using the Renault Master’s platform.
We have also reported that the company will continue to sell the existing Winger alongside the upcoming model. We expect the current Winger to soon undergo a facelift whilst the Master-based Winger is positioned above it.
The test mule in question has a test equipment loaded with sensors latched on to the rear wheels. We believe this could be to test differential settings or camber settings or rolling resistance as the Renault Master is offered in a rear-wheel drive version as well.
Currently, the Winger uses a 2.0-liter TCIC engine that produces 90 hp and a peak torque of 190 Nm. We expect the Master-based Winger to make use of either a 2.2-liter VARiCOR engine or a 3.0-liter engine. The 3.0-liter unit is used on the Sumo Gold and is available in BS 3 and BS 4 specifications. While the BS 3 version produces 70 PS and 223 Nm of torque, the BS 4 version makes 85 PS and 250 Nm of torque.
The Winger currently comes in configurations that can seat 10, 13 and 14 (including driver) and we expect this to continue in the next-generation Winger as well.
