Auto Expo Live - Honda to produce CBR 650F in India next year; New factory announced

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Limited announced its future plans at the Auto Expo today. The Japanese two-wheeler giant has said that it will produce its CBR 650F in India beginning 2015.

Speaking about production, the company announced its fourth factory to produce two-wheelers. The new factory will be located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and should begin operations in 2015.

The new plant will have a capacity of 1.2 million units per annum and will provide 3,000 new jobs. By 2016, Honda two-wheelers will have have an installed capacity of 5.8 million units per annum in India.

The CBR 650F was also shown at the expo today. It is powered by a 649 cc, in-line four-cylinder 16V DOHC engine which outputs 85.8 hp at 11,000 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. It comes matched to a 6-speed gearbox. According to the EU tests, the CBR650 F is good for 21 km/l. The bike weighs 208 kg.

Honda also announced a new Activa scooter powered by a 125 cc engine. The new scooter is claimed to offer best in class fuel efficiency.
