In October last year, Skoda India's website announced the arrival of the 2014 Skoda Rapid with updated features. Alongside the introduction of the updated model, we found out that Skoda discontinued the base 'Active' and 'Ambition' trim levels on the sedan.
However, with the arrival of the new Honda City at competitive prices, Skoda is certainly feeling the heat and is back to offering the base trim levels on the Rapid.
The Rapid range now has four trims: Active, Ambition, Ambition Plus and Elegance. The base Active model gets central locking, front and rear armrest, rake and reach adjustable steering column, manual AC, and rear AC vents. The Ambition model adds features such as body colored wing mirrors, front and rear foglights, rear dofogger, ABS, driver airbag, foldable keyfob and height adjustable driver's seat.
The Ambition Plus gets in addition to the Ambition, front passenger airbag, 2-DIN music system with USB, AUX, SD card support, steering mounted controls, leather wrapped steering wheel and gearlever, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, Bluetooth connectivity and a multifunction display. The top-end Elegance adds 15-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights and an automatic AC system.
The Rapid range starts at INR 7.09 lakhs for the Active 1.6 petrol and goes up to INR 9.61 lakhs for the top-end Elegance 1.6 diesel, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
