Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Bairesh Raj, chanced upon the 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift in Chennai last week on the outskirts of Chennai. Ford India conducted the Indian showcase of the refreshed Fiesta at the Auto Expo 2014 this month, announcing that the sedan will be produced later this year.

The Fiesta facelift receives a new 'Copper Pulse' body color seen here.

Seen here is the Fiesta facelift in a new 'Copper Pulse' brown body color (same as the Auto Expo show car), which is unavailable in the pre-facelift model. Apart from the new color, feature additions in the Fiesta facelift include Ford's SYNC infotainment system with the AppLink feature, an Emergency Assist System (seen on the EcoSport, which dials emergency services in the event of an accident), automatic headlights and automatic wipers.

In terms of design, the Fiesta now wears the Aston Martin inspired grille with a set of redesigned headlights resembling that of the Mondeo (sold in international markets). At the rear, the portion of the taillights which are integrated in the bootlid are now larger than that of the outgoing Fiesta.

We expect engine options to remain the same as the current model.

We expect the engine options - a 1.5-liter petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel - to remain the same as the outgoing model. The petrol is offered with a manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the diesel comes with a manual gearbox only.

Whether Ford markets the Fiesta as an aspirational or a practical buy remains to be seen. Ford averaged 119 monthly units of the mid-size sedan last year warranting drastic measures on the marketing, pricing and positioning of the car for a sales revitalization.

Including the Fiesta facelift, India will get 8 new/refreshed mid-size sedans this year.
