Renault India has released a teaser for the facelift of the Renault Koleos SUV using social media. The Koleos facelift is expected to feature at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014.
The company says along with the teaser, "An imposing front grille makes its presence felt on any sort of road. The all-new Koleos is on its way."
We expect the Renault Koleos' upgrade package to extend beyond the grille. It was previously reported that the Koleos will get a front-wheel drive system and an improved version of the 2.0-liter diesel engine that currently does duty on the Koleos. It will produce 171 hp (23 hp more than the current Koleos) and a peak torque of 360 Nm as compared to the 314 Nm the current Koleos manages.
The Renault Koleos was first launched in India in 2010 as Renault India's second model to break away from the image the company had previously projected by selling the boxy Logan. It was positioned as a premium SUV, stuffed with features, including a Bose audio system, with the ambition to build the Lozenge's image.
The upgraded Renault Koleos would come with fewer bells and whistles and be priced to compete with the likes of the base BMW X1 and the Audi Q3S. We expect Renault to price position the 2WD Koleos between the Toyota Fortuner and the XI/Q3S.
