IAB Report - Mercedes C Class Grand Edition launched at INR 36.81 lakhs

Mercedes-Benz India today rolled out the 50,000th car from its Indian assembly plant located in Chakan, Pune. The milestone comes since the factory began producing cars in 1994. The graph below gives you an idea of previous milestones from this factory.

Since sales began in India, Mercedes have sold 19,000 units of the C Class.

The 50,000th car was a Mercedes C Class. Since its launch in India, Mercedes has sold over 19,000 copies of the sedan in the country.

To celebrate this milestone, the company launched a special edition on the C Class called the 'Mercedes C Class Grand Edition'.

Mr. Eberhard Kern, CEO of MB India, earlier asked IAB not to expect the next gen C Class in 2014.

The Grand Edition gets a Panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, brushed aluminium trims on the dashboard and the door panels, an AMG styling kit, 'Grand Edition' badges on the fenders and a polished radiator grille. It is available in C220 CDI diesel and C200 petrol guises.

Mercedes India sales numbers

The Grand Edition diesel is powered by the same 2,143 cc engine (from the regular C Class) that develops 170 hp @ 3,000-4,200 rpm and 400 Nm @ 1,400-2,800 rpm. The Grand Edition petrol meanwhile gets a 1,796 cc engine that develops 186 hp @ 5,600 rpm and 285 Nm @ 2,400-4,000 rpm.
