Report – Ford Ka concept, B562, to make its Indian debut at 2014 Auto Expo

Posted on: Jan 20, 2014 - 12:02pm IST

Sources have confirmed to Autocar Professional that Ford will showcase an all-new global small car model, codenamed “B562”, at the 2014 Auto Expo in Noida. The report states that two reliable sources confirm that even though the project is under development, it will shown at the Expo.

New Ford Ka Concept rear quarters
We expect the Ford Ka to either replace the Figo or be positioned a segment higher, competing against the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Celerio.

The codename B562 refers to the Ford Ka concept that the Blue Oval had unveiled in Brazil in November last year. The Ka concept was the second product to come out of Ford Brazil, the first being the EcoSport. Ford retails a heavily modified first-generation Ka in Brazil and the latest-generation model exclusively in Europe. The recently unveiled Ka concept is aimed at emerging markets like India, China and Brazil.

New Ford Ka sedan
A sedan based on the Ford Ka is also in the offing.

When launched in India in what we hope would be 2015, the Ka concept-based hatchback will either replace the Figo entirely or be placed at a segment higher, competing with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Celerio. Based on a global platform, we expect that it will sport a host of features not available in the Figo, like Ford’s SYNC system, powershift automatic transmission, rear power windows and possibly the 1.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine.

A suggestion to Ford Motors India when introducing Ford Ka Concept model in India PLEASE do not endorse the same by any sportsman or Cinema stars as they does not increase the value of the product. Instead try focus on each features of the car during product promotion which people will get it better. Your product has all good features to make it an instant hit. People do not need X,Y,Z to communicate the goodies of a car to masses. Actually the same is communicated through people who bought the car, auto journalist and sales figure.
