Ford India launched the EcoSport in June last year at competitive prices. Starting from INR 5.59 lakhs for the base petrol, even the feature-packed EcoSport Diesel Titanium (O) was available for INR 8.99 lakhs.

However, apart from the initial set of customers who were lucky enough to get their cars delivered within the first couple of months, other would-be EcoSport owners are looking at a massive price hike. That's right, Ford has hiked the prices of the EcoSport for the second time.

The top-end diesel variant announced at INR 8.99 lakhs in June costed INR 9.37 lakhs after the first price hike in September. Now though, Ford India's website lists this model at INR 9.74 lakhs ex-Showroom, New Delhi. That's a price increase of a whopping INR 75,000 in less than six months.

As Team BHP reports, the average price hike across all variants since launch-January 2014 is INR 64,000. In fact, the EcoSport seems even more expensive now thanks to the newly-launched Mahindra XUV500 W4 base variant. At INR 10.95 lakhs, the XUV is a three-row 7-seater SUV, unlike the EcoSport, which at the end of the day, is a Fiesta on stilts.

The EcoSport in India is available with three engine options - a 1.5-liter petrol, a 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel.
