After rolling out its 100,000th Captur from its Valladolid plant in Spain just a couple of days ago, Renault is looking to increase its production from next year onwards.
At present, the manufacturing facility can roll out 120,000 Captur cars a year and if needed, this can be taken up by a third, to 160,000 units, according to what Rochelle Chimenes, a spokesperson for Renault, had shared with Automotive News Europe.
The Captur, launched in Europe in April this year, has garnered record sales for Renault, selling 60,887 units till the end of October this year. The Captur, along with its competition the Nissan Juke, Dacia Duster, Peugeot 2008, Chevy Trax and the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka, is completely bucking the trend of a slow and sluggish European car market.
The Captur was launched in South Korea on November 20th, branded as the Renault Samsung Motors QM3.
The car was showcased at the Seoul Motor Show in March this year and was also voted the Best Car of the Show. According to the company, the QM3 recorded sales of 1,000 units within 7 minutes of bookings being opened and soon, close to 4,000 orders followed. The QM3 is the fifth model in RSM's portfolio and is placed below the QM5 - A Renault Koleos - in the South Korean market.
