On the 5th of December, Ford unveiled the Ka concept to the European press at a special “Go Further” event in Barcelona, Spain, which was attended by more than 2500 dealers.

Ford showcased an almost production ready Ka concept in Barcelona

While we have seen numerous photos and videos of the Ka concept from its global unveiling in Brazil last month, the car presented in Spain appears ready for production, like the sketch posted on Ford Brazil's Facebook channel.

LED lamps from the concept car have been replaced with a traditional multi-relector unit with halogen bulbs.

Compared to the Brazilian Ka, this model sports traditional multi-reflector type headlamps with halogen bulbs. While the grille is the same, the foglamp enclosures are more rounded and production-ready than the original design. The concept is parked on five-spoke alloy wheels, which could be 15-inch in size.

Ford has sold more than 1.8 million units of Ka since its launch in 1996. The company expects the small car segment to increase 35 percent by 2017 worldwide. Ford says that the Ka is their vision for a practical global small car which will be offered with advanced technology and clever design at an affordable price.

Taillamps will also be powered by halogen bulbs.

The Ka can transport five adults comfortably (according to Ford), and will host features like MyFord Dock, SYNC with Voice Control and AppLink. The production of the new Ka would commence in Brazil around April 2014 (according to media reports) and could be available in showrooms during June. The European markets will get the car in the next two years.

The exact same 5-spoke alloy rims could feature on the final production model.

Being a global model we can expect Ford India to showcase the Ka concept at the upcoming Auto Expo (will Ford launch the production interior in Noida?) and later put it into production at either Sanand or Chennai. Currently there is no official word on this from the company but we can't see why Ford India will not replace or run the Ka alongside the Figo.
