Bajaj has announced a slight price hike to the KTM Duke 390. Launched in June this year, the 390 was retailing at an introductory price of Rs 1.8 lakh (ex-Showroom, Pune). The hike takes the price up by Rs 7,000.
Ever since Bajaj raised its stake in the Austrian bike-maker, India has seen KTM’s presence increase slowly. However, the Duke 390 was the first launch in more than a year as the Duke 200 by itself was garnering good numbers in India. Manufactured at Bajaj’s facility in Chakan near Pune, KTM bikes are also exported back to Austria to be sold in the rest of Europe.
The Duke 390 is rumoured to be joined by its bigger brother, the Duke 690 in the next couple of years, according to news reports.
The Duke 390 is powered by a 44 bhp 375 cc four-stroke single cylinder engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The same gearbox is shared by the 200 too. The 390, understandably, gets a taller 6th gear to accommodate the extra power on tap. The Duke 390 can go from 0-100 kph in just over 5.5 seconds and up to a top speed of 168 kph. Bajaj had also recently confirmed that it would launch an all-black model of the 390.
