In Japan, the Vezel gets two engine options, both of which are available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The gasoline variants are powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine producing 131 PS and 155 Nm of torque. Mated to either a CVT or a 7-speed stepped CVT gearbox, this version of the Vezel returns 20.6 km/l (2WD) and 19 km/l (4WD) in the Japanese JCO8 driving cycle.

Combined, the Vezel Hybrid generates 132 PS of power, and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. While the 2WD model is rated at 27 km/l, the 4WD Vezel Hybrid sees its efficiency at 21.6 km/l.
