Production of the BMW R nineT takes place at the Berlin plant.

As BMW puts it, the R nineT was made to celebrate BMW Motorrad’s 90th anniversary and combines the brand’s DNA across those years. It took BMW two and a half years to develop the R nineT from its original concept form to series production. This short timeframe was mainly achieved as designers of the bike worked in tandem with vehicle developers from Day 1.

Within a few hours of starting production, the Berlin plant had made the first three units of the bike and BMW boasts that all production bikes will be tested on their roller dynamometer, which can record and test 1,000 parameters “within the shortest time”.

The R nineT is powered by an air-cooled Boxer engine producing 110 hp at 7,750 rpm and 119 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Of particular highlight is its all-aluminium tank, which gets a hand-brushed, clear-coated, black lacquer finish.
