Spied – 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift caught on test, again
Anjan Ravi, I'm a true-blooded petrolhead. Hope you enjoy our news stories, launch coverages, motorshow coverages and test drive reports.
Here’s another spyshot of the 2014 Mahindra Scorpio facelift, courtesy of Top Gear. The camouflaged prototype was spotted on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Top Gear believes that the top-end variant of the refreshed Scorpio will get projector headlights, while a newly designed headlamp cluster will be featured across the range. Other cosmetic changes could include a larger grille, a new bumper and a re-positioned air scoop on the bonnet of the SUV. A new alloy wheel design, and a revised tailgate will complete the exterior round of changes.
Inside, its reported that Mahindra has developed a newly-designed center console with redesigned AC vents for the now aging Scorpio. A new steering wheel could also be seen, and the higher variants of the SUV would borrow some features from the more expensive XUV500.
Powering the Scorpio facelift will be the same 2.2-liter mHawk turbocharged diesel engine. Capable of producing 120 bhp and 290 Nm of torque, this engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Mahindra sells the Scorpio in 2WD and 4WD configurations, and this is expected to remain unchanged. The company also sells entry-level variants of the SUV with 2.6-liter and 2.5-liter m2DiCR engines. These variants target the fleet and taxi operators.
We expect to see the Scorpio facelift at the upcoming Auto Expo in February next year.
