Spied – 2014 Honda City (lower ‘V’ variant) arrives at a dealership

Posted on: Dec 17, 2013 - 4:15pm IST

Team I.C.E has posted these spyshots of the 2014 Honda City on their Facebook page. The car has already begun arriving at dealers. Seen here is not the top-end VX model with sunroof, but a lower V variant powered by the 1.5-liter diesel engine.

Seen here is the V model, which should be one variant lower than the VX.

While we spent a day driving the new City diesel, petrol and CVT, our media vehicles were top-end VX variants and Honda did not disclose the other variants, or variant-wise features.

From these images, we can confirm that the lower V model gets alloy wheels, steering mounted audio controls, cruise control, Bluetooth integration, 5-inch display with AUX-in, iPod and USB, and touchscreen control for the automatic AC.

Features such as the sunroof, rear AC vents, leather wrapped steering & gearlever, and leather seats are missing on this variant.

The V misses out on leather seats, sunroof, leather wrap for the gearlever and steering, and rear AC vents.

The City diesel that you see here is India’s most fuel efficient car with an ARAI rated 26 km/l. The 1.5L i-DTEC produces 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, while the transmission is handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The new City will go on sale in January 2014, and prices for the car will be announced then. However, dealers have already commenced the pre-bookings for the car.

A huge improvement over the current model, but the look resembles that of the “compact” Brio sedan. The dashboard is not looking very appealing to the eye. Honda could’ve done more to let the inside be on par to the outside look of the car.
