Update - Honda reached us this afternoon to confirm that waiting periods for the fast-moving Amaze variants today is one month, while other variants would take two or three months for delivery.

Honda has ramped up production of the Amaze in order to meet the increasing demands for the compact sedan, but certainly not as much to shrink waiting time to a week.

IAB readers have been hearing a radio advertisement in Bengaluru claiming that Honda dealerships could deliver the car within a week of booking. When we contacted a Honda spokesperson for clarification, we heard that different dealers have varying waiting periods for the Amaze based on the stock level or variant, and that this advertisement is not commissioned by the company.

Honda confirms to IAB that waiting periods for the Amaze is much longer than a week. Around 50,000 units have been delivered since April.

Based on the Brio platform, the Amaze is the first Honda vehicle in India to sport a diesel heart. Since the launch in April, waiting periods of the compact sedan extended to 4-5 months. Honda took control of the situation by ramping up the production and adding a third shift at the Greater Noida factory. It was expected that this move would bring down the waiting periods to 2 months.

The Honda Amaze is available with an option of either a 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine or a 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The petrol variant customer can choose between a manual and an automatic transmission, while the diesel variant comes only with a manual transmission.
