The FCV Concept is powered by a compact fuel cell stack and two 70 MPa high-pressure hydrogen tanks that give it a range of 500 km. It takes only three minutes to brim the tank completely.
The powertrain components are placed under the body, so as to accommodate four passengers. The sedan measures 4,870 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, 1,535 mm tall and sports a wheelbase of 2,780 mm.

The design of the car represents the transformation of air into water (the energy equation in a fuel cell vehicle to produce electricity), and the “powerful acceleration” produced by an electric motor which develops maximum torque from start. Toyota has designed large front air intakes, a sleek side profile and a fuel cap shaped like a wave-motif. The rear of the vehicle is a representation of a catamaran’s stern, with water flowing behind.
