The production version of the Honda Urban SUV Concept will be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show which begins on November 20th. Before Honda had the chance to tease or reveal the car officially, a leaked patent filing of the production car yesterday gave us the first look at Honda's plan to compete with the Renault Duster.

The patent filing was in black and white, and the badges were missing. So we rang in Shoeb Kalania, our rendering specialist, and asked him to put these finishing touches on the car.

Shoeb added production wheels, lights, mirrors and bumpers from the patent sketches.

The urban SUV is built on the same platform as the next gen Honda Jazz and its rivals include the Ford EcoSport and the Peugeot 2008.

The car features a squat stance and a very low roofline. Like the Chevrolet Beat and Nissan Juke, it features hidden rear door handles giving it a coupe like form.

The production version should measure about 4.3m long, which is about 0.2m shorter than the CR-V. We expect the car to be positioned alongside the new City in India.

The Urban SUV was revealed as a concept car in Detroit this January. The production model is very close to the study.

A detail that is yet to be revealed is the name of the product. Will the Urban SUV revive the HR-V nameplate?

Honda’s fuel economical EarthDreams engines, which include the 1.6-litre diesel in Europe and the 1.5-liter diesel in India would be used. As the platform is shared with the Jazz, Honda's 'Magic Seats' that permits the seats to be arranged in different ways, would also feature.

Honda will build this car in Celaya (Mexico) for the US market, while plants in Japan and India would also produce the global Honda model.
