Latin NCAP (NCAP for cars sold in the Latin American region) crash tested the EcoSport earlier this year in March and awarded it 4/5 stars. Consequently, EcoSports that were made in Brazil since August 2013 have seatbelt reminders that meet Latin NCAP assessment requirements. When the vehicle was retested this month, it was awarded 5/5 stars.

In the test that was carried out in March, the EcoSport scored 13.64 out of 16 in adult occupant safety, while scoring 31/49 in child occupant safety. Since then, Latin NCAP seems to have changed their scoring system, as they have now awarded the car 14.64/17 in adult occupant safety.

The test car was equipped with dual front airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, seatbelt reminder system, ABS and ISOFIX points. The EcoSport with the side airbags was not tested.

In India, only the AT version of the EcoSport receives features such as ESC and TCS.

Given that the EcoSport will commence sales in Europe early next year, the mini SUV was also crash tested by Euro NCAP and was awarded 4/5 stars. Euro NCAP tested the EcoSport which had side and curtain airbags and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard. However, in their report, the assessment said that the EcoSport's poor pedestrian safety and lack of a speed limitation device ensured it did not receive the perfect score.
