The new S Class will come to India in the first quarter of next year.

Speaking to Indian Autos Blog, Mr. Eberhard Kern, CEO and MD of Mercedes-Benz India, said that the new S Class will be seen in India in the first quarter of 2014. While Mr. Kern did not detail the exact variants that would launch, we think its quite obvious for Mercedes to launch the diesel variant, the S 350 BlueTEC.

This variant is available in standard and long wheelbase versions, with power coming from a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine capable of 255 hp at 3,600 rpm and 620 Nm of torque from 1,600-2,400 rpm. 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 6.8 seconds, while the top-speed is limited to 250 km/h. Mercedes claims a fuel efficiency of 16.9 km/l in the European Driving Cycle for this variant.

The new S Class has received over 30,000 orders abroad.

The S Class is off to a flying start in its launch markets. Mercedes has already received 30,000 bookings for the new S Class and production at the Sindelfingen plant (which is currently the only plant to make the S Class) has been increased to a two shift operation.
