Fresh spyshots of the next gen Maruti A-Star (2015 Suzuki Alto) have emerged on the web. Gaadiwaadi.com has posted a handful of snaps, some of which are close range shots of the test mule.

The current A-Star (Alto to international readers) was introduced in 2008 (first as a concept at the 2008 Delhi Auto Expo, and launched during the festival season of the same year) and upon the completion of six years on the market, the car would get completely overhauled. The i10, the A-Star's main rival, shifted to the new generation through a similar fashion.

Front seats with fixed headrests are carried over, at least on this prototype.

The engine and transmissions would be carried over, and a highly frugal 0.8-liter diesel engine developed by Maruti, would also be seen on the India-spec A-Star, according to media reports.

The new A-Star looks to have grown in height. The stretched wheelbase would provide a more comfortable travel for rear seat occupants, the selling point for any car in the Indian market. If other model changes are analyzed, compared to the outgoing Alto, the new model would gain new features.

Pull-type door handles and a broader rear window are new design features on the 2015 Alto.

The exterior design is a complete revamp, and there appears to be no connection to the existing model. Pull type door handles are new to the A-Star, while front seats with fixed headrests are carried over.

Will Maruti showcase the production, or a concept Alto at the Auto Expo next year?
