Report - Mahindra XUV500 W4 variant to be priced at INR 10.99 lakhs

Earlier this month, Indian Autos Blog scooped the cut-price Mahindra XUV500 W4 variant by telling you the exact features that would be (and wouldn't be) available on this variant. Autocar India now reports that Mahindra will price this W4 variant at INR 10.99 lakhs ex-Showroom, New Delhi and that the launch would take place a few days before Diwali i.e end of this month.

To put things in perspective, the XUV500 range currently starts with the W6 variant which is priced at INR 12.01 lakhs ex-Showroom, New Delhi. While we were informed that the exteriors would feature no changes to identify it as a cut-price model, the INR 1.02 lakhs price cut has been achieved by deleting many features.

Features such as static bending headlights, an infotainment display, DVD player, driver information system, tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic wipers and headlights, front foglights, climate control aircon, premium seat upholstery, 8-way adjustable driver's seat (the W4 gets a 6-way adjustable seat), cruise control and steering mounted controls have been given a miss!

Instead, the W4 retains the mechanical package of other XUV500 variants and will continue to be powered by the 2.2-liter mHawk engine outputting 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels. The W4 also retains certain safety features such as ABS and dual front airbags.
