Hyundai Grand i10 gathers 13,000 bookings, warrants plant capacity expansion

The Hyundai Grand i10 was launched in India on the 3rd of September and the market response has been very positive. The premium hatch which is positioned between the i10 and the i20 is reported to have garnered 13,000 bookings till date besides registering 1.31 lakh inquiries in its first week of launch.

HMIL’s Senior VP for marketing and sales, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, told PTI that the production is being re-calibrated at the Chennai plant to match the demand.

The Grand i10 is available in petrol and diesel variants. An automatic transmission variant however is not in the current mix, which if launched, would improve numbers.

While the company has reported a total dispatch of 8,411 units during September, deliveries to about 4,500 customers are pending. As of now, the Era and Magna variants command a waiting period of one month, while the high-end Asta and Sportz variants have a two month waiting period.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is offered with two engine options which are the 1.1L U2 diesel and the 1.2L Kappa2 petrol. While petrol variants of the Grand i10 range between INR 4.29 lakhs and 5.47 lakhs, diesel versions are priced between INR 5.23 lakhs and 6.41 lakhs (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
