The Ashok Leyland Boss truck will be launched nationally on Wednesday, the company confirmed. The rebadged Avia is in the ICV (Intermediate Commercial Vehicle) segment and comes in LE and LX variants. As a test market, the vehicle was launched in Madurai (Tamil Nadu) last month.

Sporting a European design, the LE variant is powered by Ashok Leyland's BS-3 compliant 120 HP H-series engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Powered by a more powerful 130 HP common rail engine, the LX model comes with factory-fitted air-conditioning. The higher variant also features a segment-first 'Automated Manual Transmission' that does away with a clutch or manual gear shifting.

Other features include adjustable seats, tiltable and telescopic steering, and LED lights. Ashok Leyland offers a two-year product warranty and a three-year anti-perforation warranty on the cabin.

The trucks are manufactured at the company's Pantnagar facility, and are serviced at all of Ashok Leyland's 450 outlets across the country. Its to be noted that the Avia is sold in Europe with a Cummins diesel engine.
