The 2014 Tata Vista facelift has been spied yet again. These images come courtesy of Fly Wheel‘s reader, Mr. Akshay, who spotted this prototype in Pune, Maharashtra.

2014 Tata Vista taillight
The 2014 Tata Vista will get a taillight design we haven’t seen before in Tata hatchbacks.

The image above confirms that the Vista facelift will not sport the traditional christmas-tree like taillight cluster. Instead, the lights are clustered below the rear windshield and we can also notice the positioning of the reverse light and the brake light in this picture.

What remains unknown though is how Tata would utilize the space on the upper half of the rear, which currently houses the brake lights of the car. We are also aware that the bootlid will be redesigned given that it will house the registration plate enclosure, which is currently placed on the rear bumper.

At least in this test mule, the interiors seem to be the same as that of the current model.

We can also see a bit of the interiors in the second picture and the overall design of the dashboard, center console, the aircon vents and the positioning of the instrument cluster seem to be the same as that of the current Vista.

Meanwhile, the front of the refreshed Vista would sport a new grille inspired by the Manza Hybrid concept, while the headlights would be mildly redesigned.

The registration plate enclosure will move up from the bumper to the bootlid.

Coming to the engines, we are not expecting any changes here. The Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel will continue offering either 75 PS or 90 PS depending on the variant you choose. The 1.4-liter TDI BS3 compliant engine is expected to continue, while Tata could also add the 1.4-liter CR4 engine to the existing lineup. The petrol Vista will continue to be powered by a 1.2-liter 65 PS engine.

We expect Tata to show us the refreshed Vista at the 2014 Auto Expo in February.

if they throw same indica looking model, it will fail. how much effort/money will be required to change body style without any mechanical changes?

just changing lights and grills will not work. they have to change the entire body style itself. for example, there is less similarity between current corolla and new corolla that was unveiled. even current corolla looks much different from 20 years back.

Tata’s brand new products would hit the Indian roads only by 2015-16 as product development would take time. Same is the case with M&M.

Visually, I’d like to see a radically different Vista, which is futuristic in exterior styling and feature rich on the inside. I personally rate this car very highly. It scores over Swift on most aspects in reality since I’ve driven and travelled in both the cars for long. It has very robust mechanicals and is probably the most underrated hatch in India.

Hopefully Tata can do to Vista what Nissan did to the Duster to produce the stunning Terrano.

Completely agree with SNT 🙂 This car is just a ‘hyped’ facelift rather than a ‘completely new’ vista. Looks like the ‘horizon’ is not anywhere in sight yet.

Why oh why cant Tata just redesign the whole car instead of still using a large number of bits and pieces from the old vista.
They tried that with the Storme and we all know how that is going …….
It seems they will never learn. Mr Cyrus Mistry where are you ?
