The upcoming Porsche Macan SUV was spotted testing in France recently. Autoplus reader Dominique, caught not one, not two, but three test mules with almost no camouflage on them.

The Porsche Macan will have its world premiere at the 2013 LA Auto Show.

The Macan will be Porsche's new entry SUV with the Cayenne being positioned above it. Design wise, the Macan will look like a mini Cayenne and if we need to be honest, it took us quite sometime to ensure that the spy pictures here are that of the Macan and not the Cayenne!

Though called a Porsche, the Macan is based on the Audi Q5 platform. Apart from maybe sharing a couple of engines with the Audi, the Macan will have a completely different interior in the typical 'Porsche' theme which ensures that there are too many buttons on the center console than necessary.

Though called a Porsche, the Macan is actually an Audi Q5 underneath. It would also be the least expensive Porsche when it hits the market next year.

Media reports indicate that the base variant of the Macan will come with a four-cylinder petrol producing 220bhp. A naturally-aspirated V6 and a twin-turbo V6 would complete the petrol lineup. Diesel engines would include the 2.0-liter TDI with 190bhp and a more powerful 3.0-liter V6 TDI. A hybrid derivative could follow next year.

The Macan has its world debut confirmed for the 2013 LA Auto Show in November. Production will kick-start by December this year, and this has been confirmed by Siegfried Bülow, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH.
